Oilgear Acquisition History

Oilgear Incorporated

  • In 1921, The Oilgear Company emerged as an offshoot of the Hydraulic Power efforts at the Bucyrus Company, a Milwaukee-based manufacturer of mining and excavation equipment.

Servo-Control Products, Co.

  • Mid 50’s  – Oilgear acquires The Servo Control Products Company and integrates the business into Oilgear. Oilgear engineered electronic systems used the brand name Oasys for a period of time.

Petrodyne

  • 04/15/72 – Oilgear acquires The Petrodyne Corporation, a manufacturer of high-pressure catalyst pumps and hydrostatic testing equipment for petrochemical and oil industries.

Hydura

  • 12/71 Oilgear acquires the patent rights for axial piston (Hydura) "PVQ" variable displacement pumps. Axial piston, saddle bearing, port plate design.
  • 07/09/74 – Construction started on a 63,000 sq. ft. facility in Fremont, Nebraska on 14.14 acres for the manufacture of Hydura Products.

Ball

  • 01/09/78 – Ball Manufacturing, Inc. was purchased as a manufacturer of flow meters, flow switches and level alarms.

Hydro-Stack

  • 10/30/81 – Oilgear acquired Hydro-Stack Manufacturing Corporation. The Hydro-Stack line includes screw-in cartridge valve modules, and stacking manifolds.

Salem Valve

  • 03/83 – Oilgear acquired the Salem Valve line from the Vickers Corporation. Key products included water valves and descaling equipment.

Towler

  • 04/17/85 – Oilgear expanded its global operations by acquiring Towler Hydraulics in Leeds, England. The Towler acquisition expanded Oilgear’s capability to design, manufacture, install and commission quality high pressure hydraulic products and custom built systems.

Oilgear Towler International

  • 04/90 – Oilgear Towler International formed – responsible for markets in Central America, South America, Australia, India, Southeast Asia.

Oilgear acquired by Private Investors

  • In November of 2006, recognizing Oilgear’s strong fundamentals and growth potential, private investors acquired and recapitalized the Oilgear Company in order to better serve the market and aggressively expand the company.

Oilgear China Joint Venture

  • In the spring of 2008 the Oilgear Company began a joint venture in China with Taifeng Hydraulics. 

Olmsted Products Company

  • In November of 2008 Oilgear acquired Olmsted Products Company, a world leader in quality efficient high flow and high pressure valving.

Clover Industries, Inc.

  • In December of 2009 Oilgear acquired Clover Industries, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of integrated cylinder systems.  This addition significantly increased Oilgear's capacity to design and engineer custom cylinders, integrated cylinders, intensifiers and custom piston accumulators.
