The Oilgear Towler descaling valve uses an Active Logic Element design. This utilizes balanced poppets areas to allow controlled opening and closing of the main control valve. Shocks are minimized in the pipe work due to the controlled opening and closing, which accelerates and decelerates the fluid mass, minimizes inertia and potential water hammer effect.
Control of the logic element is achieved through a pneumatically operated directional control valve, which takes its supply from the main line (filtered).
The Oilgear Towler valve design utilizes a soft poppet seat and a hard seat in the valve cage, which is durable and gives a long trouble free life. Should these components fail however, they are both replaceable.
The pilot valve used, utilizes a masked spool design (see highlight in Fig. 8). This allows the supply to the poppet to be gradually isolated. The masked spool also helps prevent dirt entering the top of the poppet due to the large closing load, which seals any particles against the valve face.
